The full edition of the Frontier is now available on DriveThru RPG. Building on the highly successful starter edition of the game (which has by now clocked almost 800 downloads on DriveThru RPG), the full edition allows character to progress up to the 10th level, gaining new powerful abilities and wielding exotic and legendary gear. If you liked the starter edition, the full edition of The Frontier will knock your socks off!
So quit procrastinating, go buy it (the price is right!) and happy looting!
I am happy to report that progress on The Frontier has been very fruitful and the game is currently in the bugs and spelling errors hunting phase. If everything goes well, it should be ready to go to layout next week and then hopefully released in early August. In the meantime, I thought you would enjoy a preview of one of the many special items you can find during your adventures in The Frontier. Continue reading “Protection meets firepower”
Having already discussed the basic rules and setting of The Frontier in previous posts, it’s now time to have a look at how character creation works and the different characters you can play.
I mentioned before that The Frontier has Old School influences and you’ll get that vibe from character creation. It is a class-based game, with each class having unique abilities and a distinct role. Similar to other older gamers, classes have a fixed progression track, meaning that you cannot change the abilities they provide. Continue reading “Heroes of The Frontier”
The Frontier is a true standalone game, including a complete setting that you can use for your campaigns. For those of you who like to create your own settings, rest assured that it is not intricately woven with the rest of the game and can be ignored and replaced very easily. While the Mortars & Miniguns series used the 5th edition rules via the open game license, The Frontier has its own custom system. Initially, I toyed with the idea of using 5th edition, but it would be too much work to get it to do what I wanted. A custom system means that the game is streamlined and focused on its core elements (high action and a lot of loot!). Continue reading “System analysis”
After a loooong hiatus, One Dwarf Army returns with an exciting new project. Following the successful run of the Zane’s Guides series, I have taken all the info and knowledge presented in those supplements and evolved it to the next logical step: a complete roleplaying game.
Called The Frontier, the new game is inspired by sci-fi action RPGs, like Borderlands or Destiny. Think of alien worlds, dangerous creatures and of course a wide variety of weapons to dispatch them with, and you’ll have a pretty good picture of what The Frontier is about.
